Media Update | Meeting with the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process

NCAG received the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process to discuss early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), received Mr. Christophe Bigot, the European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, at its temporary headquarters in Cairo. The meeting was chaired by General Commissioner, Dr. Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath, with attendance of a number of NCAG Commissioners.

The two sides discussed developments related to early recovery and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. NCAG presented its plans for the next phase, particularly its first 100-day action plan, which focuses on emergency relief, restoration of essential services in the health, education, water, and municipal sectors, and strengthening civil security as a foundation for the reconstruction process.

The meeting also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in the areas of technical support and institutional capacity building. The European Union reaffirmed its continued support for the Palestinian people and for recovery efforts in Gaza, as well as its commitment to maintaining coordination with NCAG and international partners to promote stability and improve humanitarian conditions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue communication and coordination during the upcoming period in support of Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
