National Committee for the Administration of Gaza Presents Comprehensive Recovery Program to Donors at Brussels Conference

Dr. Ali Abdul Hamid Shaath outlines the Gaza Reconstruction Program to 65 international delegations and affirms the Committee's readiness to lead the recovery phase.

Brussels — Dr. Ali Abdul Hamid Shaath, General Commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, participated in the Palestine Donors’ Group (PDG) meeting held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, with the participation of 65 international delegations and under the auspices of the European Commission.

During the meeting, Dr. Shaath presented a comprehensive overview of the Gaza Reconstruction Program (GRP), outlining the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza’s vision and plan to transition from emergency relief to early recovery and the rebuilding of basic services, ensuring effective and transparent management of comprehensive recovery efforts.

Dr. Shaath affirmed that the National Committee is immediately ready to assume its responsibilities, calling on the international community to translate its political and financial commitments into practical actions and actual funding that meets the urgent humanitarian and developmental needs of approximately 2.2 million of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The conference resulted in the launch of the “Gaza Team” initiative, with the participation of more than 12 donor countries, alongside the European Investment Bank and the World Bank, aiming to mobilize financial resources worth nearly one billion US dollars to support the comprehensive recovery program in the Gaza Strip.

On the sidelines of the conference, the third official meeting of the Joint Coordination Office between the Palestinian Authority and the Peace Council was held, with the participation of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, the Council’s High Representative Mr. Nikolay Mladenov, Dr. Ali Abdul Hamid Shaath, Dr. Bashir Al-Rais, Finance Commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Atef Salama, and Dr. Omar Awawda, Advisor to the Prime Minister.

The meeting discussed mechanisms for joint coordination to accelerate the delivery of basic services, support early relief and recovery efforts, and enhance integration among various national and international entities, contributing to improving humanitarian conditions and preparing the necessary circumstances to initiate the recovery and reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip.

Participants emphasized the importance of converging national, regional, and international efforts, and accelerating the implementation of agreed initiatives, to ensure an effective and sustainable response to the needs of our people’s children in the Gaza Strip during this critical phase.
