Omar Mohammad Hassan Shamaly is a Palestinian telecommunications executive, born in 1975. He is married and a father of six, with over 26 years of experience in developing the telecommunications sector in the Gaza Strip. He led the emergency response plan of the Palestine Telecommunications Group – Gaza Region during the Gaza war beginning in October 2023, working to keep Gaza connected under challenging conditions. This effort was recognized when the company received the Best Telecom Company in the World for Crisis Response award at the World Communication Awards 2025. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science and a Master's degree in Political Science. He began his career at Jawwal in 1999, was appointed General Manager of Jawwal (Jawwal and Paltel) in Gaza in 2015, and has served as General Manager of the Palestine Telecommunications Group – Gaza Region (Jawwal and Paltel) since February 2023. He completed a Mini MBA in Telecommunications in the United Arab Emirates and the Leadership and Young Leaders Development Program in the United States, alongside numerous professional training courses in customer service management, strategic planning, project management, telecommunications, and information technology. He maintains active engagement in civil society and with private sector institutions.
